Tobacco can be found in many different ways on a college campus. You can see someone with a lit cigarette, smell drifting secondhand smoke, see cigarette butt litter on the ground or read a tobacco company advertisement. Whatever the form, tobacco affects the college campus in different, but comparable dangerous ways.

Smoking is prohibited within 20 feet of a public owned or operated building under State Government Code. This includes public universities and community college districts.  Any educational institution can set a policy to further restrict smoking on their campus.
